...more about the
Walchensee
The Walchensee is situated in the Bavarian Alps at the foot of
the Herzogstand, one of the most beautiful vantage points in Bavaria.
Acknowledged as a health/ spa resort, the Walchensee is protected
from rough winds by it´s surrounding high mountains. Due
to the south facing position, the valley is always sun flooded.
The pine and deciduous forests near by create a exceptional clean
air. The land around the Walchensee was declared as a nature conservation
reserve.
The lake with it´s crystal clear water is only permited
by sailing, rowing, and pedal boats. In all the little villages
around the Walchensee rowing and pedal boats are available for
watersport fans. The Walchensee is also regarded as a secret spot
for windsurfers and is even suitable for fishing. Divers will
appreciate the favourable light conditions even in deep waters.
Courses are offered for all watersport activities. The Walchensee
is one of the few untouched lakes for a refreshing swim on all
its shores.
But the area is not only attractive for watersports fans, one
can also enjoy a game of tennis on the courts nearby. Should you
not be engaged in sports, there are lots of cosy benches just
to sit and glaze over the still lake admiring the high alpine
range framing the lake.
For the keen hikers or the leisure walkers, there are plenty of
hiking trails through the beautiful scenary. A trip with the cable
car of the Herzogstand (lower station Walchensee) is another highlight.
The upper station is also the starting point to a magnificant
hike up the mountains.
